Sunlight can severely damage your eyes. A large number of exposures will ultimately improve the pigmentation in the eye. This will cause a color change which is also known as "brown" or "sunshine" cataracts. Some well-known eye disease such as macular degeneration, has also been associated with exposure to UV light.
Wearing a good quality safety glasses and protective eyewear during sports are very good for lowering your risk for significant injury to the eye, impaired vision, and complete vision loss.
